Default Re: Alert!! Pet Food Recall!!!

Has anyone noticed, that depending on what news source you go to on the internet..there are conflicting reports about just how many pets died because of the food recall? Some sources report about 20, others about 70 and the ABC news affiliate web site gave the number over 200. I noticed that the pet food companies are the ones reporting the less deaths--big surprise there. It may be years before we know the truth about just how many animals lost their lives because of this. I think that they should have a 800 number where each veteranian in this country and elsewhere can report the number of deaths they have seen due to this. I have this feeling that somehow certain people are going to try to "cover up" the effects of all this!! And that is just not right!!!

I was listening to the radio this morning and i'm sure they were just being a bit too dramatic, but they said like 4,000 have died. Maybe they were talking about being affected but still. I could tell they had no idea what they were talking about but they really should all somehow total up all the deaths, and I know they don't know the exact number but at least close and not hundreds or thousands different. Then maybe once that number comes up of how many poor animals have suffered they will do more like put a commercial on t.v. of the recalls, they do it for everything else but since it's not YET affecting people they aren't doing all they could and should do. I just think that it seems like every couple days or every week we find out there's a new food, or now treat that is being affected and they are still telling us not to worry everything else is o.k. In the beginning they said it was just canned food, well o.k., then treats, which I know they said was fine and not to worry. I check everything I give them now and where it's made, and I will never feel comfortable feeding my dogs anything anymore. And that's not right, more needs to be done.

I am going to start off by saying enough is enough and I am sure I speak for all of us I am sure. I also have to say I am always checking this link, and when there is something new I am eager to read and yet very scared of what I might read at the same time.

I am so sorry this list keeps having add ons. I am happy to read that the vet tech that helped us at PetWorld with our Wellness brand pup cereal is not on the list. Relief, especially after our last one was on there.

I know I am not the only one that their pets food has been recalled did anyone else feel relief after they have switched that their new food is not on the list?

I get a sick feeling everytime I see something about a "revised list". Then on the news this morning they were talking about chicken feed possibly being tainted.
That's pets, hogs, and chickens so far...

There IS some good news though..I saw in the paper that "The Senate voted Wednesday in favor of stricter production and labeling standards so people have more information about what they are feeding their pets.
The 94-0 vote was on an amendment, to broader legislation related to the FDA.
The amendment also called on the government to create a PET VERSION of the system that now tracks food contamination and outbreaks of illness and death in people. The lack of such a system for pets became apparent in the recent recall of more than 100 brands of dog and cat food made with contaminated ingredients imported from China"

WELL, I SAY...ITS ABOUT TIME..AND WHY DID SO MANY PETS HAVE TO DIE OR GET ILL FOR THEM TO DO THIS???????

I agree! It IS about time the mentality of "They are just animals" gets kicked to the curb!!!
Our precious furbabies have NO CHOICE to eat except for what we feed them. There SHOULD be stricter guidlines! They aren't wild animals that can go out and hunt their own food. They are at our mercy and WE are at the pet food industries mercy.

Regarding my earlier post about the senate voting for an amendment for better protecting Pet Food..it has to go to the House of Representatives..I found a link where you can go to sign up and urge them to pass this also..
