| Ya know..im starting to think that people should just boycott buying any dog food or cat food at all until they launch an investigation or something...I know that a lot of you are already preparing food yourselves for your pets..sounds like a good idea. Are we supposed to just blindly trust them, and by them i mean the manufacturers or the government, when they say that the food is safe??? And then not do anything about how it got tainted/poisoned???? I dont think so!!!

| An Update from Nestle Purina PetCare Company About the Menu Foods Recall We at Nestle Purina PetCare Company know the reports of pet food recalls and withdrawals over the past week have been very concerning and at times confusing for pet owners, who want to ensure the safety of the food they are feeding their beloved pets. We want to take this opportunity to reassure you that Mighty Dog pouch products are the ONLY Purina(r) brand products affected by Menu Foods' recall. Nestle Purina stands behind the high-quality of our pet foods, and all Purina brand cat food products and all other Purina brand dog food products, including Mighty Dog canned products, can continue to be fed to your pets with complete confidence. On Friday, March 16, Nestle Purina PetCare issued its press release announcing the voluntary withdrawal of our Mighty Dog(r) brand pouch-packaged products that were produced by Menu Foods from Dec. 3, 2006, through March 14, 2007. While we had no indication of any product quality or safety issues specifically related to our Mighty Dog pouch products at that time, we are proactively withdrawing these products as a precautionary measure, because the well-being of pets and the safety and efficacy of our products are our top priorities. Click below to view the Press Release: http://updates.purina.com/T2RT022656...DF31AC5AE81E00 We also want to apologize for any difficulty you may have had in reaching us by phone this week. While we have dedicated numerous additional phone lines, people and other resources exclusively for this purpose, we understand that the volume of calls still has occasionally exceeded our system capacity. We have prepared some Frequently Asked Questions that may be helpful to your understanding of this situation, and we will update these questions as more information becomes available. If you have other questions or concerns, please continue to call our Office of Consumer Affairs directly at 1-800-551-7392. | O.k., I just want to say that for you people who keep saying oh, I couldn't live with myself if I thought I could have caused my dogs death or i'm glad I didn't give them the food and killed them. You are pissing me off, there are people on this site that lost their beloveved pets due to this. It isn't their fault, it's the company who are the stupid people who don't know how to do their jobs right. And I have heard that pet owners tried everything to get their dogs to eat the food, and how could we know it was bad, no one killed their animal, they were keeping them alive by feeding them, and because of the a** holes who don't know anything and went and poisoned the food, they killed the poor animals. So, just please stop saying that you are glad you didn't cause your animals death by not feeding them the food, owners are not responsible, it's 100% the maker's of the food fault. -Theresa |

That is exactly what I think, if 10 or 15 people, if that, even just got poisoned, like the whole country would just shut down until they found out what happened. Maybe I am going a little overboard, but you know what they are living, breathing, thinking, little furry babies. In my eyes, equal to anybody except they don't go killing people and blowing things up. But in the governments eyes they are nothing, but I think without animals this world would be a much worse place. All this food recall just pisses me off, and if there were any reason that poison could be in our food, that would be the only thing to watch on t.v. warning, but I bet that there are still people who don't know about the recall. f*** the government, feed them poison! |

I just had to respond and say that nobody in here would ever think that an owner is responsible for the death of their animals by feeding them poisoned food that they were unaware was poisoned. I think they were just expressing their gratitude for the luck of not having that brand and their animals were spared. The people in this forum not only love animals they are supportive sharing caring people and would never knowingly say anything to hurt someone else. Once you have been a member for awhile and check all the posts you will find that out for yourself. Please don't try and make some of the members in here feel bad for posting their feelings. We are all here for each other!

| As responsible pet owners, how can we not be wary of incidents like these? It is our duty to act diligently as far as health and welfare of our pets is concerned. Some people may wonder what the big deal is all about, but how we care for our pets is equally as important as how we look after our own families---because these animals are part of our families, too, right? I remember how a very popular brand of petfood experienced a very serious case of contamination in its huge plant in Thailand and this affected major suppliers in many parts of Asia, including the Philippines. While little (or no news) of the incident was ever reported until several breeders and pet owners in several countries disclosed deaths among several breeds of dogs in their care, was there ever a move to recall from supermarket shelves both wet and dry petfood produced by this company. It is just too bad that many have to suffer losses so that awareness of the problem can come to the fore and in the end we know that the root of it all is still man-made! ![]()
