| Muggy, 94 and sunny. Rivers and lakes have overflowed. Some towns have gotten over 9 inches of rain. Many people have been evacuated from their homes. One person has drowned. Our local hospital is closed because of flooding; all the patients have been airlifted to other hospitals. I 65 and SR 31 have just reopened. Our power has been off all night, but came on about noon today. So far it has stayed on. The Coast Guard from Lake Michigan is here helping to get people to safety. We are safe. We have our friend's dog here. They were evacuated and couldn't take their dog to the shelter. |

| Joy that is awful!! My sister lives up there in Mooresville and said that their pond has overflowed and made a steam and it has dumped a bunch of water into their basement. Last year you guys couldn't get rain and this year you are getting way more than your share. Hope everything gets back to normal soon.

| that's why a lot of people refuse to evacuate.. they don't want to leave FAMILY MEMBERS behind! I realize, unfortunately, that you can't take farm animals.. 3 cows, 15 chickens and a horse..you just do your best with them..but not to let people bring domestic *pets* furbabies.. is inhumane! Summertime is upon us here...most of the places around there that were flooded are drying up..but if we get more downpours..they'll flood again.. ![]() brrrr gonna be cold tuesday! LOL

| thats what our weather looks like Tammy..for the next few days.. while we are on the subject of shelters..i read the other day that because of all the foreclosures and people losing their homes..they have to go stay in shelters or with relatives..so they have been trying to get animal shelters to take their pets, either temporarily or permanently..and the shelters are so overcrowded they have to turn at least 10 dogs away a week. I dont think most people realize that all the foreclosures are not only affecting people, but their pets too....

| Our weather is extremely similar to Joy's. Yesterday alone we had the tornado sirens going and torrential rains, we have 6.5 inches standing in any given area right now. We are so saturated that it is going nowhere. We did get some pictures to show, we are downloading and sizing so I can post them. Yesterday in our yard alone the water standing was up to my knees. We had terrible thunderstorms friday and yesterday, lots of tree damage and standing water everywhere. Our creeks and ravines are so overflowing that the water and sewer people are on the sceens trying to divert it elsewhere, with no where to go with it really. It was so forceful the down coming rain so fast that it literally shut down about all of our roads and the manhole covers were popping up, literally, and moved several feet from where the hole was. We are to be in the upper 70's to mid 80's all week with rain like this for the next two more days and then a couple of days of no rain and by the end of the week more rain and thunderstorms. Tonight we are already on alert more storms rolling in and the sky looks like it too.

Bless you for helping out your freind!!!! Im so glad you are ok up there. Our friend's would do the same for us without hesitation. Their dog, Gilbert, is the sweetest doberman in the world. He is not quite a year old and is all legs and big feet that don't ever go in the same direction at one time. He is a hoot. He has bonded already with our neighbor's Basset Hounds. They "talk" to each other. Our neighbor is sneaking him food. It was sad when our friend's brought Gilbie over. They didn't have time to get any food or toys for him, much less anything for themselves, and their 2 year old little girl kept saying, "I want my Gilbert." ![]() |

| We had such severe storms again last night we are almost tied for the amount of rainfall we have gotten. The highest amount was 10.1 inches set back in 1917. We are not at 9.89 inches. Wow that is a lot, not as much as where you are Joy. Today's high to be 78 and muggy and warm with isolated showers/storms on and off all day. Last night it turned the power off a couple of times, but not for long each time.
