Default Homemade Pet treats?

Does anyone ever make their own homemade from scratch treats for your pets?

I have made homemade dog biscuits that my dogs absolutely devoured. I looked up recipes online. It was a ginger snap for dogs. They love them. I will be making more.

Has anyone got a favorite recipe they would like to tell us about.

If you want this recipe I will be more than happy to post it. Let me know.

I have never made dog treats but I did make a homemade bland diet when Gotti was sick last week. White rice, cooked ground beef and boiled chicken.
My husband was jealous that I cooked to the dog and not for him.

Gingerbread Dog Biscuit Recipe

Ingredients:
1 cup molasses
4 tablespoons honey
1 cup water
½ cup vegetable oil
6 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
4 tablespoons chopped fresh ginger
1 teaspoon salt

In a medium size bowl, combine the molasses, honey, water, and the oil. In another bowl mix the flour, the baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and salt. Stir this mixture gently into the molasses mixture. Make sure to mix well with a wooden spoon. Divide this dough in four. Make each piece into a ball, wrap these in plastic, and refrigerate for 3 – 5 hours.

Next, heat oven to 175 C. and oil 2 baking sheets.
Put dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll dough out into ½ cm thickness. Cut dough with a cookie cutter into gingerbread men or into whatever shape you like. ( just made them look like peanut butter cookies with the fork smudged in it.) Bake 10 – 15 minutes, or until cookies are lightly browned around the edges and firm.

Makes 24 cookies.

Hee Hee Hee Erica, that is funny. Burger King...hee hee.

My husband thought I was makin ghim cookies, which I had done earlier, when he smelled this cooking. It really smells good.

When you make these Erica you will have to make a batch of husband kind of cookies and dog kind of cookies.

Wink Re: Homemade Pet treats?

With the hot weather my dogs don't want to eat. So I feed them late at night it's a little cooler and they seem to eat better.
