| As far as cooking the steak medium...Gary just said you really have to watch it constantly...try to cook it on one side, cut a small piece to look inside..and then flip it over...he likes his steak medium so he hovers over it like a mother over a baby..LOL...i like mine well done so he just ignores it until it starts smokin'...hahahhahah[/quote] I have decided that to cook a steak the way I really want it, I will just pass it over an open flame. |

| My mother-in-law's persimmon pudding 3 eggs, beaten 2 cups persimmon pulp (you can find it in the freezer of your grocery store. canned pumpkin, not the pumpkin pie stuff will work if you can't find persimmons. Use the same amount, but add a little more milk.) 1 1/4 cups sugar 1/2 cups stick butter or margarine 1/2 cup milk or cream 1 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 1/2 cup flour 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp allspice Heat oven to 375 degrees. Melt butter in 8X8 pan in the oven. Remove the pan after the butter is melted and pour the butter into a bowl and set aside. Put the thawed persimmon pulp in a large bowl. In separate bowl combine dry ingredients. Fold the persimmon pulp and dry ingredients together. Add the melted butter and eggs and mix well. Add milk and mix well. Pour into the butter-greased baking dish. Bake about 45 minutes, but check after 30 minutes, especially if you are using a glass dish. The pudding is done when an inserted toothpick or piece of uncooked spaghetti comes out clean. Let the pudding cool a bit and cut into squares. Serve small squares (it is very sweet) with whipped cream or ice cream. Don't worry if there is liquid on the top of the baked pudding. This is normal. My son and nephew, who have type 1 diabetes, always adjust their insulin so they can have some of the pudding. It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without this treat.

| Easy Chilli 1lb x Minced Beef 1 x Medium Onion (chopped) 1 x Tin Chopped Toms 1 x Tin Kidney Beans (I some times use Baked Beans instead) Mushrooms (sliced or diced) Mild Chilli Powder (amount depends on how hot you like it) Beef Oxo Cube (optional) Tom Sauce for added flavour. Put about 1tbs of water in a pan add onions and sauté for a few minutes (don't have heat to high so as not to burn) then add mince and cook until browned. Remove from heat and drain mince then before returning to heat add Chilli Powder (I add a little this point) and crumble in Oxo. Mix all this together. Return pan to heat and add Chopped Toms, Kidney and mushrooms. heat gently. Now I would add Tom Sauce to taste also more Chilli Powder if required. Usually I cook this the day before I need it then on the day either heat in slow cooker or gently on the hob. ![]()
