Default Seniority Rules!

I know that most of us on here have multiple pets, and I am just curious to know who "Rules the House" when it comes to the pets. I know all of my pets get along, but when it comes to being boss, Tabby takes on that role very well! LOL

Heres a funny story of what happened and this is why I thought of this ...

This morning when I woke up, Molson was sitting on the bed looking at me. I didn't need to ask or wonder what he wanted because I already knew - it was time to refill the food bowls and give them fresh water. I was a little tired so I just closed by eyes and fell back to sleep. When I woke again, Molson was curled in beside me sleeping as well. So when I got out of bed he jumped down and ran for the door because he knew "Mom is up, its feeding time" But just as he went to leave the room and walk into the hallway Tabby came by smacked him on top of the head with her paw and ran. I thought this was kind of funny. I could just hear Tabby saying (if she could talk of course, lol) "I sent you to do a job, and that was to wake Mom up to get food and you fell asleep" Molson just sat there with this puzzled sleepy look on his face like "Uh Oh, shes mad"
It was then that I realized, Molson & Smokey often wake me when they are hungry, but Tabby has NEVER sat on the bed waiting for food, Nor will she be the first to the food bowl. I guess it is because of her role within the group ....???

Well, we only have our two dogs, but Toby is definately the "Alpha" dog...sometimes he acts like he is just "tolerating" the upstart Rebel..and when we buy them new toys or special bones, he acts like he is entitled to ALL of them...and Rebel usually caves, but not always. Sometimes he will stand up to his older and bigger brother and when he does, Toby kinda cowers..LOL...they really do show affection for eachother though...although Toby seems to be telling us "you didnt see that!!!" ha ha ha

With Gracie & Dylan I think it depends on the wind for they are as changeable as it. LOL

If Dylan is laid ih the hall way and Gracie wants past he growls at her though never bites also if Gracie wants out during the night I have to get Dylan up also otherwise he won't let her past.

On the other hand if they are playing with their toy dog and Dylan has it Gracie will just take it off him and if he tries to get it back she growls at him.

Also if Dyaln is on the sofa and Gracie on the bed on the floor and Dylan decides he wants the bed he will stand over Gracie and yap until she moves.

Well Lucy is the head honcho even though Daisy is older. All Lucy has to do is give Daisy "the look" and that is that! When Lucy is in the house Daisy has to wait in line to eat. They both eat from the same bowl even though I have tried putting out two separate ones. When it comes to some treats or chewy bones there have been knock down drag out fights and poor Daisy gets the worst end of the stick (as well as Jim if he tries to pull them apart) Once Daisy got beat up by Lucy over a marshmallow that had fallen off the stick by the outdoor fire onto the ground. Lucy guarded it and then when Jim went into the house to go to bed she went in with him but Daisy and I and Brenda (marks girlfriend) and her son Nathan stayed out. Well Lucy whined to come back out I guess so Jim let her out and she made a beeline for Daisy and started scrapping. I think she thought Daisy was going to get her marshmallow.
If Daisy starts howling too much and I tell her to be quiet and she won't Lucy will give her a warning growl and nudge her hard with her head.
Lucy gets the best spot on the couch and its usually beside Daddy. If Daisy comes to either one of us to be pet or cuddled Lucy tries walking in between.
Sometimes Daisy gets a bit aggressive with the chickens if they are out and about and again Lucy will give her the warning growl and nudge to stop her. Lucy is very gentle with the chickens! But now with Pip (Brenda's teacup chihuahua) neither one of my dogs seems to be the boss. I think they are both afraid of her! It is too funny to watch them try to avoid her. I wish I didn't have dial up or I would take videos and post them but it would take forever but trust me it is hilarious.

Since we only have our Boston now, he is the ruler of the house. He sleeps on my pillow. I just sleep where ever I can find room without disturbing Rocky.

When our kitty's were still with us, Scrapper started out as the ruler. He was grown when we got Tiger as a baby. Scraps would sit on our coffee table and dangle his tail in front of Tiger, all the while he was making sure Tiger saw him. When Tiger went after Scrapper's tail, he would get "beaten up" by Scrapper.

As they got older, Tiger became the ruler and Scrapper was okay with that.
