Default Picture of Bubbles

http://www.funnypetpictures.com/foru...d=117698914 4
This is Bubbles, he died about a year ago, I still miss him, I think I was the only one who did, probably because he's just a hamster(not my words!). He escaped from his cage quite a few times, once we found him under the stove, and in a closet, then we got a different cage and it never happened again. He was so sweet, he let me hold him, and when I would clean his cage he would roll around in his ball and my dogs would spin him(when we weren't looking, well we were but we stopped them) I was always paranoid that someone would open the door to downstairs, I would always remind everyone like every 5mins. to close the door behind them, they always did. It was really hard watching him die. A couple days before he died he had a really bad odor coming from him and his butt was all brown from diarrhea, I thought it was 'wet tail', I was freaking out so we called the vet and he said that all his symptoms: not eating or drinking, sleeping all the time, not playing were a way of him telling us he was dying. So I had a couple of those syringes and we bought baby food and I fed him through them and same with water, I really think I gave him a little longer to live, but then one day I was going to feed him and I couldn't wake him up, he was still breathing though, and I called my parents crying and they came home and called the vet, and they said he was dying, he was unconsious, but still breathing, it took around 12hrs. to die, but he was brain dead I guess, I carried him around in a towel all day, just petting him and kissing him, telling him how much I love him and how much he meant to me. The vet said that he lived for longer than most hamsters, around 3yrs. And I heard from a lot of people that when their hamsters were dying they became vicious, but not my Bubbles, he let me feed him and everything. He was the best, and now he's up in heaven with my dog's Jasper and Oppy. I miss them all so much!

Bubbles was very cute and very lucky to have a caring person to care for him in his final hours.

Bubbles was a cute little guy.

I would imagine that other people's hamsters become aggressive when they were dying because they felt weak and fearful. They probably see humans as predators and think they need to protect themselves. You must been really good to Bubbles for him to have trusted you so much.

Your story about your dogs spinning him around while he was rolled up in a ball is a cute one. I can imagine him playing with Jasper and Oppy in the same way right now.

BTW: Your writing is really good. Have you considered doing it professionally?

I am so sorry to hear about this tragic event. Please know that you have my deepest sympathy. I had a teddy bear hamster named Starr, he was gorgeous and very loving too. He looked similar to Bubbles. That picture brought a smile to my face.

Bubbles was real cute

I have had many hamsters in the past and would have more today but there isn't the space to put a cage.
