| Greetings from the sweltering Central Valley of Calif. We live in a rural area with the nearest neighbor about 2 miles away by road. We have a dog and a cat. The dog came from a small town animal shelter about 8 yrs ago. Her mother had just give birth to 6 puppies and had been left chained to the animal shelter gate one night. Heidi was the runt of the litter and my wife fell in love with her right away. The cat appeared around the house about 3 yrs ago and was very easily spooked. After about 6 mos he would allow us to approach and pet. Much to my wife's chagrin I let him in the house one day and when he demonstrated a knowledge of the litter box he became house pet, that is when he's not out hunting for mice for days at a time. Surprisingly enough, when we took him to the vet the first time we were told he had been fixed. We're still trying to figure out how he ended up out here, miles from nowhere, after someone had shown enough concern to have him neutered. So much for "quick". Looking forward to a lot of stimulating, informative discussions. Last edited by Dave B : 06-26-2006 at 01:17 AM. |

| LOL, nice story I live above a mall, in a dense area, so I don't let my cat out. My terrace is surrounded by small fences though, so I might let him walk around some day, while keeping an eye on him (I recently moved, so he still has to get used to the house).
