| I went to "Apenheul" last year, a place with a lot of monkeys living in the forests. Thought you might like these pictures

| I thought at first you were from England when you used the term "hedgehog" and then when you said you didn't celebrate Hallowe'en I was confused because I have relatives there and they told me that they do. So now the puzzle is solved. That is great, most of the people on here are from the States or Canada and some from England. It is so good to connect with animal lovers from all over.

| I agree, that's one of the aspects I like about the internet. Hedgehog isn't being used in America and Canada? What word do you use for it? Sometimes I'm confused with words like color/colour, neighbor/neighbour.. I learned English at school, but because of movies I think I speak with an American accent (mixed with a Dutch accent ).I've never visited the US or Canada unfortunately, but I'm going on a holiday to Florida this December..woohoo! Looking forward to it already..except for the long flight ![]() Halloween isn't a national holiday here, although some people start to celebrate it..I believe it's getting more and more popular each year. It sure seems like a nice holiday though

| A hedgehog (in Canada at least) is called a porcupine. As far as the words colour etc I know it is so confusing isn't it? We Canadians tend to take the long way I guess because we use colour instead of color but truth be told a lot of us use the American versions because it is so much easier. Canada is a beautiful country but so is the United States. Since we live only 1 1/2 hours from the border we have visited quite often and really enjoy it. My husband used to travel for his company (he no longer works at that company anymore) and most of the trips were to the States so he got to see a lot more than I did. I went to England when I was 11 waaaaaay before you were even thought about (you are 4 years younger than my youngest son)and I loved it there too but as the saying goes there is no place like home. I was born in Northern Canada (Timmins, Ontario) where the winters were snowy and cold. Is that what it is like in the Netherlands?

| Well, the summers are supposed to be cool and winters mild. I'd say the weather is about the same as the UK, except that it rains more over there and the summers are warmer here. We have snow sometimes, not every year. This summer has been exceptionally hot so far, with days of 30-35 degrees Celcius (about 95 degrees Fahrenheit). In some countries, that's an ok temperature, but here it's almost unbearable because of the humidity. Some would disagree, but personally, I think it's too hot..you can't get anything done! Canada is certainly on my list of places to visit, Vancouver, Toronto..who knows. I'd also like to visit New York and San Francisco some day.

| Well it sounds like you are having the same weather we are getting this year. Although every summer we have some hot and humid spells so it isn't all that unusual and you are right it is unbearable. The heat is ok but the humidity can be a killer. Even where I originally come from ,Timmins, which is quite a ways up north, has some hot and humid spells. Now I am only an hour away from Toronto and you will enjoy it there if you do manage to visit. It is very busy with lots of shopping and clubs and restaurants and tons of tourist attractions. It has a wonderful zoo as well and a science center, museums and parks. It has something for everyone. We aren't fussy on busy places which is why we chose to move to the country but we still enjoy going there to visit. I myself would like to go out west to Vancouver to visit and maybe one day we will. We have been to the other coast (down east) to Nova Scotia and it is beautiful also. I think every country has beauty and something to attract visitors or make the native people happy. Home is where the heart is right? I hope you can travel to all the places you want and enjoy all the memories you have when you get home sweet home.
